SNOWSHOEING

Snowshoeing
is probably the fastest developing winter sport in the Alps. Known once only to trappers and rangers it's becoming one of the main alternatives or complements to alpine skiing. If you don't belong yet to the group of initiated, you have to try and experience the pleasure to walk in fresh snow far away from the civilisation!

A large number of ski resorts prepare special tracks for snowshoe walkers, sometimes common with the ones for backcountry skiing, but the most interesting way of practising this activity is certainly to go with a guide off the beaten track. The guide will not only lead you through the white-carpeted woods and hills but will also open your eyes on the nature, history and traditions of the region. To complete such an intensive day, what would you say to a dinner in a typical mountain restaurant or refuge or even a night in an igloo?

See here for a detailed presentation of snowshoe outings during winter 2011/2012.
